Sounds Perfect: From Garage to Music Studio
I think words from my client, Scott Mead, Founder of Meadia Productions, will convey the story with the appropriate audio-engineer perspective. For me, it’s all about color and style, and for him, it’s equally important how the fabric performs.
“These photos are the result of several months of work to turn an unfinished garage into a music studio. The goal was to create a space that feels cozy, warm, casual, and inspiring… with all of the tech in place, but not as the visual focus. I wanted a space that’s just a good place to “be” and create… where artists can feel at home. I think that goal has been accomplished. It’s a room where artist and engineer can communicate and interact throughout the recording process without walls or isolation, but with care taken to minimize reflections and standing waves. My last two songs were recorded here, and I love the workflow, sound, and feel of being in this space.
My many great thanks to all who helped make it happen, including @good_neighbors_electric_ , Reynoso Framing, the amazing drywall crew, Trevor Casarez, and everyone else I’m forgetting. And a huge thank you to Teresa of MintyWorks, for pulling everyone together, and for her insights and those rustic, warm, and cozy finishing touches. Check out her interior decorating services for your next makeover (personal or commercial): @minty.works.“

More Behind the Scenes

I sourced the versatile high-quality sofa that transforms for lounge or sleep. Can holders in the arms, USB charging, and sized perfectly!

Full studio configuration of the hub, angle 1.

I had a custom cast bronze plaque made and installed outside the studio door. New overhead exterior lighting serves it well! Interior artwork by Sandy Young.

All Uke hangers are repurposed vintage desk drawer fronts – all one-of-a-kind. Old canning labels add a unique touch, and the desktop was also repurposed.
